When organising a successful fashion shoot, it is important to have a reliable, creative team around you. This team typically consists of:

- Photographer (obviously)

- Model

- Make-up artist (MUA)

- Hairstylist

- Designer

One of the best pieces of advice that was given to me by my lecturer was don't just use your pretty friend to model for you (I have been guilty of that in the past. Evidence of this is in my last post Fashion! Fashion! Fashion! https://emmamages.wixsite.com/emphotos/blog-1/fashion-fashion-fashion) So if you can't use your friends, where can you find these people? The internet is your friend in this circumstance. It is filled with creative people, you've just got to know where to look.

My main sources in finding a creative team are:

- Facebook

- Instagram

- Purpleport

So, starting from the top. Facebook.

Facebook can be the most useful tool when looking for a creative team. The first step is to find a Facebook group that is made specifically for this reason. You would likely want these groups to be based locally unless you're willing travel. As I am currently based in Birmingham, the main Facebook groups that I use is "TFP Models Birmingham UK" and "Birmingham UK Models." These groups are filled to the brim with models, photographers and MUAs looking to collaborate with each other. Join one of these groups and post a casting! You'll be surprised at how many people want to work with you.

Instagram. Kind of an obvious one. This social media platform is specifically designed for posting photos. Create your own photography account and get following. Use those hashtags. Post regularly and build on those followers. From here you can start Dm'ing local models and MUAs and you never know? They might like your work and want to work with you.

Purpleport. This could be your bible in the fashion photography industry. It’s a networking platform specifically designed to share and communicate with other photographers, models and MUAs. You can enter competitions, share your work, look up local events but most importantly, you can create casting calls when you're in need of a collaborative team. Or you can look on the list of castings to see who is in need of a photographer. It is a fantastic website for like-minded people and an amazing way for creatives to communicate.

These are my ways of finding a creative team. There may be other ways I have not discovered yet so do your research to see if there are any other ways. There are three parts to this blog when finding a creative team. The next post will be advice on working with professionals on a TFP basis (for free). Until then!
