FASHION! FASHION! FASHION!

Over the past few months, I've been building the fashion side to my portfolio. This is what I specialise in, this is what I am good at and I am in the process of trying to develop a style. I experimented with fashion photography whilst I was in college although never really took it further at this time as, if I'm being honest, I had no idea what I was doing! I wasn't working with professional models at this time and was only trying it out on friends.
In college, I was trying to figure out what area of photography I wanted to go in to, my love for fashion photography began once I had started university and I was trained properly and how to capture the perfect fashion image! Looking back at the work I produced in college, and even in the early days of university, it amazes me how much I have improved in this area. Lets take a throwback to my first ever fashion shoot when I first invested in a DSLR camera! (I am so sorry for what you're about to witness)

Yeah it's uh...interesting. You have probably guessed that this is not a professional model but a friend of mine. I clearly didn't know how to use photoshop! And yeah...I just didn't know what I was doing! University helped me develop and I got better at photoshop and started networking with professional models. These next set of photos were from my first ever shoot working in a studio. This session was where I was being trained to use lights, gels and just the studio equipment in general. I loved it, and never looked back.

This is not the most creative picture in the world, extremely simple lighting with just one soft box placed at a 45 degree angle however, I was so buzzed about working with a professional model, I thought it was one of the best photos I had ever taken! Around this time I was also being trained in how to re-touch in photoshop. This is a skill I have been working hard on over the past few years. Yeah believe it or not, this was retouched. I've been going through all my old work and re-editing them to see just how much I have improved. This is that image now:

As you can see, its much better. I love seeing the process of how I've improved and I am incredibly proud of how far I have come since that very first shoot with my friend in the freezing cold. There is however, room for improvement. I am always going to be learning throughout my photography life. I am learning now and continue to do so throughout my career as a fashion photographer. Here are some shots from my recent shoots that can be found in the fashion tab. Loads more to come soon so be sure to keep an eye out!
